About Polyimide Fiber
Polyimide fibers (PI) are a class of heat-resistant and fairly strong synthetic fibers of orange to yellow color. They are the latest choice for very demanding applications where very high temperature, corrosion, wear and creep resistance is required. The high-performance properties are maintained during continuous use to very high temperatures up to 500°F (260°C) and to short-term exposure of 1000°F (550°C). If you are using Kevlar® | Para-aramid fiber products that have the unqualified feature of heat resistant, then Polyimide fiber products are a smart upgrading alternative.
Big Differences Between Para-aramid & Polyimide
Kevlar® | Para-aramid products (thread, rope, webbing, fabric) are recommended in short-term using under the temperature of 570°F(300°C), which polyimide products can bear much higher. And polyimide has the UV RESISTANT feature which is the major disadvantage of Kevlar® | Para-aramid, this means polyimide products do not have to avoid of exposure in the sun, the UV-Avoid-Seal of aramid has been removed by polyimide.
